Oh, Mary, this is going to be fun! I’m reading this wonderful story during my, ahem, coffee break this morning and, oh boy, do I have some words of my own! I’ll write the word, what it means in business lingo, and what I think. Here goes…

“Bubble up” - bring up a subject to the supervisors and on up the chain of command. *Bubbles created by carbonation or soap with nowhere else to go, but up!

“My ask” - A request to someone to perform a task or favor. *The person, or entity, doesn’t want to take ownership of stepping out of their comfort zone and ask the damn request in the first place! Let’s just stick with, “May I ask…” for goodness sake, take ownership for what you’re about to ask!

“Circle back” - To come back to a topic in conversation or during a meeting. *Someone is riding in a car or on a horse, they’ve left something back home, and now they must go back to get it!

“Bruh” - slang term used by many—too many—youngsters as an expression of disbelief or disdain. *I believe the word “brother” should be used to denote someone’s brother, close male friend, or brotherhood. P.S., not sure if they’re saying bruh or bra… very confusing for me!

This was fun! ❤️

That was fun! I laughed so hard when I read, "Bubble up". I had never heard that before and yet could easily feel how annoyed I'd get by hearing it used over, over and over! I hadn't heard, "My ask" either. I'm so glad you put the meanings, because I would have been totally lost without them! Is "Bruh" the equivalent of "Dude"? I'm still giggling.

Glad you enjoyed. And, yes, “bruh” is the equivalent of dude, bub, to name a few. Ugh, bubble up is terrible for me to hear during a meeting!

Thoughts and prayers. Yeah, these three words drive me to Berserkerland.

Yes!!!!! When people say that, verbally or in written form, it sounds like, "I got nothin'" .

I gotta say, now I am loving, "Berserkerland"! It may just be my new favorite word!

"Sweety". I hate hate hate hate hate it when people call me sweety. Especially people that don't know me. You don't get to call me a term of endearment when you don't know me. The history behind it is after I had my first miscarriage the nurse called to speak with me about the medical reason for the miscarriage but followed up her information with this: "oh sweety, it happens to everyone". If I could have reached my hand through the phone and choked her, I think I would have.

Oh yeah. What was that nurse thinking????? How was her "share" supposed to help you? Thank you, Mindy Mindy for writing your story. I hold people's stories so near to my heart, because I think it takes great courage to share emotions.

I love your inclusion of “Remember when” in your favorites! Me too--I love telling remember when stories with friends and in my family!

“Calm down” is a phrase that has probably riled way more people up than it has ever calmed!
