One foot in front of the other…hiking The Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls with Dad and Mom in the early 1970’s…ahh, the “fun” Dad must have had hearing Mom and I moaning the whole time.
I read your book last weekend. It was a wonderful read. You have a way of making the reader feel like they are along for the ride with you. I loved it. 😊
Popsicles on the porch . . . that instantly had me running through a sprinkler and catching lightning bugs in a jar. Poor things. But how wonderful for you to hold those memories close. We grew up in what now too often feels like a lost time.
Erin, yes!! The sprinkler and lightning bugs in a jar. It was such a beautiful, simple time-I know not for everyone, and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to be a kid.
Ooof...Mary, you have been through it, and reflect how we all feel when going through it. "One foot in front of the other"....oh, how the lessons in a moment we find unnecessary, come back to get us through everything 'necessary'. Your connection to these two moments had me in tears. The living truth of that, had me in tears. My heart swelled in love for your parents, what wonderful life lessons they blessed you with....to utilize in protecting and loving your own babes....oh, my heart! Bless you for sharing this. My heart won't forget your story.
Yes, Mary, keeping one foot in front of the other is a lifetime of doing so. I am thrilled that I grew up in a time where I had the most delightful childhood. It was filled with climbing trees, building forts, having parades and plays in the neighborhood, ice skating, riding bicycles and most importantly, a safe home with loving parents who raised me.
Yes, we suffer and thrive at the same in life. It’s not easy, but we do it.
Susan, you are so right. We do it...I do prefer the thriving part. Ha/ha

Thank you so much, Emilie! That means everything to me.
Suffering and thriving at the same time - that is the perfect way to describe life, isn't it?
If someone had told us that when we were younger, we wouldn't have believed it. But, it's true, isn't it, Wendy?
Indeed!
