Dear Mary, you’ve got me thinking about my stretchy leotard, tights, and maybe a glowing skirt. I love, and always loved, dancing in my bare feet! I can feel the ground beneath my heel and toes as I navigate on swirls to the rhythm! I have been known to dance in the store aisles, much to Megs and Keke’s dismay! I don’t care, dancing is in my soul. By the way, Maria Broom (actor, dancer, spiritual being) conducts Dance Medicine. Check out MariaBroom.com! Hugs!

Oooh, I will! How fun sounding! I love the description of your dancing. You have the talent and the love. I have simply the love. How joyous to share!

I’ve bought many pairs of Capezios throughout the years. Not for myself but for my daughter. She began dancing when she was 4 and continued classes until middle school. She was and still is a beautiful dancer. I still remember the chill bumps I would get sneaking into the audience from backstage after doing the girls makeup to watch my girl perform at recitals and competitions. I was such a proud mama! But I have no dance rhythm whatsoever. My shoes of choice have always been flip flops - year round. I even hiked all over north Georgia in flops!

Wow! Hiking in flip-flops! Now that is a commitment to a piece of shoe wear. (I'm too afraid of snakes to hike without hiking boots) I love the image of you as a proud Mama. There is just something so sublime about watching your child doing something they love...especially when they don't know you're watching and you get to experience that moment and hold it in your heart forever. Thank you, Heather.

A beautiful listen, thank you Mary. I, too, have an-as-yet-unvoiced fascination with my feet in a specific pair of shoes. I wear barefoot ones along with really not-fetching silicone toe separators that - thankfully - no one else needs to see! But I've come to enjoy the way my feet meet the ground with greater confidence. That I can see the ripple of movement travel from heel to toe as I stride through the park mindfully of a morning. It's less 'shoe' than supported sock, I suppose. Less protection from the elements and more 'scaffolding' to support the foot to do what it does naturally.

So I totally get this and wonder, too, if it inspires others to consider how we move through this world and the tiny observations we could make about how we do it.

Lindsay, thank you for listening! Oh, my stars, what a beautiful passage above! Truly, an Ode to Feet/Movement. I love it! It occurred to me one day, that I have NEVER seen myself walk. I have felt my walking, seen my legs, feet, and arms swinging, but have never seen myself walking from behind or in front. I want to, though, but don't want to be aware of someone videoing me, so I am "natural." Your response above made me even more curious and desirous to do so!

I have some dusty old swing dance shoes in the closet. Maybe it's time to give them another spin... Thanks for the inspiration!
