Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing
I worry about almost everything. But that being said, I have this superpower of continuing forward. Yes, it’s More About Mary’s Music and More. I think I could use this Stevie Wonder song playing at all times as they do in movies and TV.
I bought a pair of Capezio jazz dance shoes. No, I don’t plan on taking a Jazz Class. I just wear them with my gauzy skirts in my regular life. I will tell you that if the right song comes on somewhere, anywhere, I am going to break out dancing.
I’ll be ready. I LOVE these shoes. When I point my toes, the shoes move with my foot in the most satisfying, artistic style. Isn’t that so funny to be enraptured by my own foot?
Why not? Why not be entranced by ourselves as moving art? Uh, oh, next thing you know, I’ll be hanging pantyhose filled with sand in the feet from my ceiling! ( Nah, No worries there)
Life is short. I have wanted these shoes for decades. To say that I love dancing is an understatement. I do not do it enough. I barely do it at all. The other day, I was on my daughter’s college campus, and someone had an “old fashioned” boom box, and they were playing (No, not the theme from Flashdance, although I was hoping they would) Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
I was stunned. What were kids from 2023 doing listening to this? Not that it wasn’t good, because it is, but you can’t dance to it. They were pontificating on the “intricate chord structures and intense harmonies.” Oh, they were trying so hard to sound deep and profound. Damnit-just put dance music on!
I had my Capezios on and was ready…no dancing that day. It’s raining today, so no Capezios. You know, that “Singing in the Rain” is running through my head, however. Now where is my wooden-handled umbrella?
Thank you for reading, and thank you for listening. Drop me a line below and tell me about shoes and music. I want to hear from you!
Dear Mary, you’ve got me thinking about my stretchy leotard, tights, and maybe a glowing skirt. I love, and always loved, dancing in my bare feet! I can feel the ground beneath my heel and toes as I navigate on swirls to the rhythm! I have been known to dance in the store aisles, much to Megs and Keke’s dismay! I don’t care, dancing is in my soul. By the way, Maria Broom (actor, dancer, spiritual being) conducts Dance Medicine. Check out MariaBroom.com! Hugs!
I’ve bought many pairs of Capezios throughout the years. Not for myself but for my daughter. She began dancing when she was 4 and continued classes until middle school. She was and still is a beautiful dancer. I still remember the chill bumps I would get sneaking into the audience from backstage after doing the girls makeup to watch my girl perform at recitals and competitions. I was such a proud mama! But I have no dance rhythm whatsoever. My shoes of choice have always been flip flops - year round. I even hiked all over north Georgia in flops!
