I love the simplicity and truth of your words. It's so easy to let anger at the state of the world consume us, when we'll benefit so much more by concentrating on the love. And remember, a rejection by one doesn't mean a rejection by all!
Wendy, thank you so much for reading my piece! Yes, it IS easy to be consumed by the anger of the world, of people, and situations. A second thank you for the wise words, "rejection by one doesn't mean a rejection by all!"
I have been fearing where our society is headed as a whole in so many areas, but recently I have allowed it to literally anger me. My husband has been patient as I verbally vent this anger to him. But I must not allow it to consume me. Anger is healthy if kept in check for what it promotes within us, but not when it consumes us. I have always been a positive person and do not want to allow the actions of others in so many areas in our society to affect my overall belief in the goodness in people. I can take positive action where I find it necessary and then turn it over to the universe. I am sorry about your book, but hope that you will not let it stop you. It was one negative response. One. Remember this and continue your pursuit of having your book published. I loved your four year old student’s response! Yes, she is an old soul!
I vacillate between being consumed with disbelief and anger and reset with nature. I agree; I would not want it to consume me! As for the rejection, it is the first of many. Each one hurts, but I just keep plugging away. Some moments are just easier to do that than others. Thank you, Susan for reading and also for responding!
I'm sorry about the rejection of your book. I can't imagine how much that hurts. And that child was an old soul. You are, too.
I picked up an old college European history text book for bathroom reading (perhaps TMI). It paints pictures of war after war after war and regime changes happen all the time. I used to feel secure in our democracy but no longer do. It is under constant threat by right wing wackos (I really have no use for the majority of the GOP) who would delight in the destruction of our democracy and who would prefer an authoritarian goverment. It's frightening.
Thanks for your writing. I really look forward to the installments .
It is frightening. Personally, I think we need a total re-do of our Democracy. Terms limits for Congress members, no more PACS, no Electoral College, no Speech Writers, coming to terms with our past as a country and bringing to fruition the opportunities that are limited to "some" to all. As for my book, yeah, I'm still feeling the sting of rejection. But, you know me. I have already put into motion a potential solution. I will never give up. Thank you for reading and also for responding. I so value the voice of others besides mine. It is so important to me to hear how others think and respond.
Mary, I shall press to my heart all the love and kindness of my good, good friend, Mary McKnight, and cast to the wind all the bad, sad, and hurtful things that make you frown… with all my heart.
Thank you, Jocelind. I feel like I need a good "wind session" to cast all the above aside so that I have more room for happiness and possibility. Your heart, is in part, that which will make this possible for me. Thank you!
Mary, I so like reading your posts on Route to Rise. It would be disappointing to feel the rejection of your book not receiving a publication-yet. I like to think in terms of some things just not happening yet...not an ending to something...but a passage to the other side of just not yet. Wishing you all the best. Take care, and be gentle with yourself. Keep on writing. Your story is important.
I absolutely love this. I am so grateful that there are people like you who can feel, not just see, what we need to change in our world. You are a blessing to many people!
Awww, thanks, Goodge-O! There are moments when I wonder if I know anything at all...and then, I remember the voices of children. They are often are best teachers.
Such wise words in this post, Mary - I'm going to take care to give things to the wind when I need to. And yay to the wind! It's going to take your feelings of being misunderstood and turn them into comfort and confidence that this rejection is but a tiny detour on your route to rise. ♥️
Oh, that little four-year-old...yes, "Yay to the wind!". Thank you, Rebecca, for your wise words as well. I so appreciate you reading my work. I know when you do that, it is in good hands.

You tackled a lot of issues in this one post.

The sting of rejection is still smarting...it will pass.
