I never go there as I live in downtown Austin.

And forget to drive a car!!! What is your email address. I wanted to drop a note there.

I think Substack has the ability to send a private message. I have a couple readers who have done that. Is that a possibility?

I think you have to be subscribed to that person. But if you go to their page (click on their name) you will see 'message', which will be private.

I always come out of Target with more than I had on my list. I think we all do, right?

Expand full comment

Absolutely! Now that they have that exclusive "Beauty Products" section in the middle, I may be addicted. It's funny, because I am not a big "makeup person." I have the same routine since 9th grade-lip color and Mascara. But all those colors to look at, make me very happy.

I love just going to Target and walking around. Of course I usually buy something but every once in a while I actually go and leave not buying anything!

What?! You can actually leave and not buy anything? Impressive. "The Target Effect." Pretty colors, organized shelves...ahhhh.

Ahhh, the joy of meandering through the aisles of Target browsing over the joyful colors and textures! My preference, as you know, Mary, is to walk in the woods, letting the gentle breeze and sounds of the rustling leaves wash my worries away. Pure joy!

Agreed on the woods. Total Zen experience. But, it is nice to have realized via my daughter, that Target can help me find my chill. ha/ha

Now I'm going to have to find a Target and go in it just to see how it makes me feel!

Oh, do let me know!!

Can relate to not even having to buy anything to achieve the Target effect. But usually I do buy something, and even though I usually don’t buy the clothes, I’m always buoyed by the colors and the vivacious models, who always look a bit more human than most models do. I like that about Target, and I do understand it’s part of their money-making strategy. Doesn’t bother me. I like the sense of shopping among humans.

I love that, "Shopping among humans." Yes, the maniquins do look like actual people...well, people with no heads.

Shhhh. Target is a client of ours. I feel I have to send this to my colleague to send to her contact there. You may just go viral with them and end up lavished in Target dollars

Eavan, going viral sounds kinda fun! See, even talking about Target, and it's the "Target Effect!"

Their managers are incentivized by how clean and reset the store is! That adds to the magic!

Ahhh...yes, that new exclusive "Beauty Section" is fabulous.

We don't really have an all-encompassing store like Target in the UK. They tried to expand in Europe but the model did not work with the strict wages and workers hours legislation in Europe. Primark would be the place to find cheap but ugly clothes!

This is fun to think about! I wonder what other places have the same effect. Fun to ponder!

Can’t see that option but no worries

It's in the "Chat" bubble next to the bell, top righthand corner.
