Okay, so I went by one of the bookstores where I did an “Event” and didn’t see my book anywhere. How are people supposed to peruse it, if they can’t see it? That’s how I have found some fabulous books, like Ari Shapiro’s The Best Strangers in the World. I found the title on the spine intriguing, read and bit and then bought it. It does not disappoint! I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it yet.
But wait, this is about my book! I thought about going up and saying, “Hi, yeah, I did an author event here last month and I noticed that you’re out of my book. Any idea on ETA of it back on the shelves? But I wondered if that is cricket? Okay, so I wanted to say, “Where the hell is my book?? I knew this was not the direction to go.
What do I do? How does one become “known” if one is not seen? Now, on the “up” side of things, a number of Book Bloggers have reviewed my book and loved it, highly recommending it (super cool), and that is where the photo above was obtained.
I want to see it on the shelves. I want to see it in a pile on a table with other books recommended to read by the proprietors. Is it because it’s about Germany? Are people still afraid to openly “like” Germany? Are they thinking I’m some psycho, Nazi sympathizer? (I’m not. Just a tree hugging humanist here.)
Okay good readers. What do I do? I have to do something. (Note how I am not a patient person and want action.) Drop me a line below with a strategy if you would, please. Thank you for reading my piece today. Next week, I’m going to include some of the photos I wanted to include in my book…that’s a story in itself. I wanted to include loads of photos. I love photos in books. But, for now, where the hell is my book?
I've heard that this is the time to be pushy & ask them what they did with it. If it's hidden somewhere, surreptitiously put a few copies in a prominent place with the cover facing out. Or maybe not surreptitiously!
