Alright, so technically, being born in 1961, I too am a Baby Boomer. But let’s face it, during all the “Peace, Love, Change the World” I was in elementary school.
So, I was thinking of The Woodstock Generation and wondered, what the hell have they been doing since the late 1960’s? I imagine many have amassed a great amount of wealth, some are dead, but where the hell is the peace, love and a world that has changed for good they promised?
You all let us down. Here’s the good news. It’s not too late! Don’t let your generation be known for who they were and the changes they planned to make, but for who they are now and the changes they make today! Come on, you’ve still got to have a bit of that peace, love, change the world in you…don’t you??
I want to see it, I want to experience it, I want to read about it, how the Summer of Love generation came of age in their 70’s and 80’s. You all can do it! Make a new movement, a revival. Wouldn’t that be so cool!
Let’s face it…as a country, we are, how shall we say, at a crossroads, which also surrounded by a ring of fire and if we don’t do something, we’re gonna be goose stepping soon.
So, come on Boomers. Dust off your bell bottoms, crank your stereos and get into action. It truly is now or never. Don’t let “Never” be part of your legacy.
Oh, what am I doing? I teach young children and each school day, I spread kindness, love and connection with nature, teaching that a good leader inspires, not dictates or micromanages. I revel in their joyous revelations and questions and then ask more questions myself.
I recall learning about pollution in 5th grade. I have a compost pile in my backyard, I use an Amish tiller (hand pushed) to prepare my garden beds, and a Reel mower to cut my lawn (which is shrinking as I add more native plants).
I am not done yet at age 63. In so many ways, I feel like I am beginning again. I want my legacy to be one of action until the end. Don’t you? Drop me a line. How are you changing the world? (No matter what generation you’re from) Thank you for reading my piece today. Peace, love and change the world for good for all.
While I’ll admit that I am struggling a bit in this quagmire of BS political stuff; I am continuing to spread love and peace through my conflict resolution practices. It’s one person at a time, right? It’s slow, but it’s moving. So, I hold out shiny hope that if I reach one person, they’ll turn around and reach another. Right??
So...I refer to myself as a "late Boomer," being waaay (months) older than Mary but still in the Boomer window. Wisdom, understanding, love, fulfillment and those perfect luxury hotel quality bath linens continue to elude.
